The inaugural Commonwealth Business Summit is expected to commence tomorrow in Windhoek.
It will be held on the margins of the Commonwealth Trade Ministers Meeting.
The event brings together business leaders, policymakers and trade experts from across the Commonwealth countries to explore investment opportunities, digital transformation and strengthen the supply chain.
The summit aims to bridge the gap between policy and business, fostering collaboration and driving sustainable economic growth across the Commonwealth members.
"The very first trade ministers' meeting to be held outside London and the very first business summit to be held on the margins of the ministerial meeting, which Namibia has the privilege of hosting. Together we will explore trade and investment opportunities under the Commonwealth theme 'One resilient under the Commonwealth future transforming our common wealth," said Namibia's Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi.
The three-day summit will further explore strengthening trade ties and highlighting digital solutions to enhance business connectivity.
It will also promote green business practices and sustainable growth and strengthen cooperation between government and businesses to align policies with commercial priorities and empower SMEs.
Shirley Botchwey is the Secretary General of the Commonwealth and the first woman from Africa to hold this office.
"This is the Commonwealth in action: a trusted network of 56 nations united by values and vision coming together to drive trade, investment and innovation at a time of global uncertainty. This summit is about solutions for tackling trade tensions, accelerating digital transformation, sustainable energy, and empowering small businesses, especially those led by women and young people. This gathering is where policy meets practice and ambition meets action. It's not business as usual; it's the Commonwealth doing business differently."
