The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation has renamed its radio Studio 3 in memory of the late Alexander Jarimbovandu Kaputu.

Kaputu was one of Namibia's longest-serving radio journalists and a respected narrator of Ovaherero history and culture.

The unveiling ceremony occurred at the nbc radio headquarters, celebrating Dr. Kaputu, who passed away on March 10, 2021, at the age of 69.

He was remembered not only for his decades of service in radio but also as a philosopher and cultural custodian who left a lasting impact on public broadcasting.

His widow, Uahapiso, attended the ceremony, which featured a performance of the traditional Ombimbi dance.

Among those who paid tribute were NBC's former Director-General Bob Kandetu, current Director-General Stanley Similo, board chairperson Lazarus Jacobs, and family members of the late Kaputu.

The renaming of the studio serves as a lasting tribute to Dr. Kaputu's significant contributions to the media landscape, storytelling, and cultural preservation.
