N$1.6 million was raised at a fundraising dinner in preparation for the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair's 24th edition, slated for the 22nd to the 30th of next month.

The Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) has grown into an economic stimulation platform attracting actors from all sectors and corners of the country.

The event, which will be held under the theme Innovate-Connect-Prosper this year, will see the expansion of the business forum extended to two full days.

A major feature will be business-to-business matchmaking sessions, involving a high-level delegation from South Africa's Limpopo Province.

Over 500 exhibitors have been turned away due to limited space. The fair receives 1,500 applications annually.

"This year alone, we are projecting to host around 480 exhibitors, and among them we are proud to expect delegations and exhibitors from across the SADC region, as well as from countries as far afield as Ghana, Japan, and Indonesia, to name but a few," said Rebekka Hidulika, Chairperson of the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair.

Nedbank Managing Director Martha Murorua described the trade fair as a powerful connector, a platform for knowledge-sharing, and the formation of partnerships and joint ventures.

"It's about being part of the vibrant, resilient spirit that defines our country's northern region. As a bank, our ties to the north are longstanding and deeply personal."

The goal is to unlock cross-border investment opportunities and foster partnerships.
