The Governor of Hardap, Riaan McNab, has called the region's inhabitants to embrace a renewed sense of dedication and diligence in advancing socio-economic development for the benefit of all.
He made the remarks while delivering his maiden State of the Region Address in Mariental.
Governor McNab called on the regional leadership to acquaint themselves with the National Development Plan 6 as well as the blueprint of the 8th administration.
These strategic frameworks, he noted, serve as guiding tools designed and aimed at driving inclusive growth, promoting social equity, and ensuring prosperity for all.
"Let us reject the notion of business as usual and adapt to not business as usual. Our people deserve better service delivery, we need to improve livelihoods, and we need to improve sustainable development. It is our solemn duty to rise above complacency and to deliver tangible results that transform lives."
Moreover, the new governor declared zero tolerance for corruption and called for the promotion of ethical and accountable leadership.
"Over the next five years, the office of the governor is committed to harnessing and expanding the agricultural potential of the Hardap Region, unlocking its vast resources to drive sustainable economic growth. A key priority will be empowering our youth and aggressively addressing unemployment through targeted interventions and skills development. In addition, we will focus on improving housing and sanitation infrastructure to enhance the living conditions across the region."
Governor McNab furthermore identified the advancement of quality education and vocational training as a key strategic agenda in his development plans.
