Oshikoto Regional Governor Sacky Kathindi conducted a familiarisation visit to the construction site to upgrade the Engoyi-Omuntele Road.

The engineering manager at the Roads Authority, Stanley Gariseb, shared that one of the challenges they face during construction is the encroachment of vendors close to the road reserve.

"One of our difficulties is to communicate that our citizens are breaking the law by being on the road reserve. I don't think they understand the law very well, and that is where we stand right now."

Kathindi called on the Roads Authority to consult the affected communities residing next to the road because the road reserve is an important development tool.

"That's why I'm here, not to impose orders, but to observe and comprehend the challenges we face and determine our capacity to tackle them. This road will serve millions of people, be they locals, visitors, farmers, or the business community in this area, people who want to even venture into business in this area."

The road construction was slated for completion by the 25th of July this year, but the contractors said it will only be done by September 2025.
