A man allegedly killed his wife in Windhoek's Greenwell Matongo locality in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police in a statement said 53-year-old Alweendo David allegedly shot his wife, forty-three-year-old Elizabeth Nepando Hambelela Alweendo, at their home in Greenwell Matongo.
According to the police, the couple's 18-year-old daughter, who was with her six-year-old brother, responded to her mother's call, and upon entering the parents' bedroom, she found her parents standing at the door.
The daughter observed that her father had a gun in his hand. The father pushed her away as her mother scuffled to remove the weapon from her husband's hand.
The skirmish moved into the sitting room, where a shot went off, striking the daughter, who was then in the kitchen, on her right thigh.
The daughter, upon hearing a second shot, then crawled into her room and called her aunt for help. While calling her aunt, she heard another gunshot inside her parents' room.
She observed her mother bleeding on the sitting room floor and her father lying on the bed bleeding. She then called her aunt again, who assisted in calling the police.
The Alweendo couple was declared dead on the spot by paramedics.
The witness to the unfortunate incident is admitted at Katutura State Hospital, and her condition is described as serious but stable.
