Former NAMCOR Managing Director Immanuel Mulunga has denied allegations that he received a luxury Audi vehicle worth over N$3 million from businessman Victor Malima in exchange for facilitating free fuel to Malima’s company, Eco Trading.
Taking the stand in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court, Mulunga said he never received the vehicle and rejected claims that he was involved in the direct supply of fuel. He stated that, as managing director, fuel distribution was not part of his responsibilities.
The charge sheet claims that Mulunga received the vehicle as a gift after approving a fuel deal for Malima. Malima has since fled the country following the Anti-Corruption Commission’s arrests of the accused in the case.
Mulunga also addressed the broader charges against him, calling them “senseless.”
He said his duties included signing contracts and that he had done so in many other cases in line with his mandate.
He denied that nine service stations were acquired, stating that NAMCOR Petroleum Trading and Distribution (Pty) Ltd purchased bulk fuel storage facilities from Enercon. He said these facilities were owned by Enercon, not the Ministry of Defence, and no documents had been presented to prove otherwise.
Mulunga said he would not have signed the agreement had he known that the Elindi brothers, owners of Enercon, were selling assets they did not own, an allegation made by the State.
