Lawyer Kadhila Amoomo, representing 75-year-old Katutura pensioner Petrina Sikela, has issued a demand to Nampost for the reimbursement of N$10,560, allegedly withdrawn from Sikela’s account without authorisation between 4 February and 22 July of this year.

The pensioner, whose monthly state pension and an orphanage grant for her grandson are deposited in a Nampost account at the Katutura branch, claims that twelve unauthorised transactions were made using credit card services without her consent.

The disputed amounts range from N$100, withdrawn on 11 April, to N$2,000, withdrawn on 6 May.

The letter of demand, addressed to Nampost CEO Festus Hangula, states that unknown individuals were granted access to Sikela’s account and listed as beneficiaries without authorisation.

The law firm has demanded a full explanation, immediate reimbursement of the N$10,560, and the permanent removal of the unauthorised beneficiaries.

The transactions are allegedly linked to an individual 29 years younger than Sikela, who claimed to be in a relationship with her; Sikela has since disputed these allegations.

Nampost has yet to make a statement regarding the allegations.
