The police in the Zambezi Region arrested a 38-year-old Maunga Village resident from the Choi area on Wednesday night for the murder of a Zambian national at the Sinai entertainment centre. The deceased, Mike Longwani from Siboya village in Kaungamashi, Zambia, was a shopkeeper at Sinai.

Less than an hour before his death, Longwani reported a death threat from the suspect at Manias Brian Libuto Police Station. He was then fatally stabbed multiple times at his shebeen, where he sold traditional brew, as threatened.

The confrontation occurred shortly after Longwani returned from the police station. Both men were allegedly intoxicated during the altercation. The deceased sustained 28 stab wounds and died on the spot. His body was taken to Katima Mulilo State Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.

The suspect sustained stab wounds to his right palm and cheek, reportedly inflicted during the fight.

The deceased's next of kin have been informed, and investigations continue as the motive remains unclear.
