The Popular Democratic Movement has launched its Boots on the Ground campaign in the Katutura Central Constituency, marking the start of its nationwide drive to mobilise support ahead of the November local authority and regional council elections.

The campaign includes house-to-house visits, supported by a digital outreach programme, in a bid to strengthen grassroots engagement.

PDM President McHenry Venaani urged members to take the party's message to the communities.

“It's very important that the party engineer new ways to engage voters. This election is not going to be a rally election. It's going to be a social media election, a digital campaign, and a door-to-door and person-to-person campaign. This election is going to be very, very personal. So by us launching the boots-on-the-ground operation, we are launching a special campaign to aid our movement to reach out to voters and to make sure that we retain a number of constituencies throughout the whole country.”

Councillor of the Windhoek Central Constituency, Rodman Katjaimo appealed to residents to give the PDM "one more chance" to deliver on its promises.

“It was our very first time to win the Katutura Central Constituency since 1992, and five years ago, it was our very first time to do this from Swapo from Katutura Central Constituency. As we are speaking right now, we are defending champions. Therefore, we should retain our title. Encourage one another to go all out just to give me one more final term,” he added.

The Boots on the Ground campaign is expected to expand to other constituencies in the coming weeks.
