Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba has turned 90 years old today, August 18. 

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah extended best wishes to the former statesman, who served as the country’s second President from 2005 to 2015. 

In a statement, President Nandi-Ndaitwah praised Pohamba for his exceptional leadership during his tenure, which strengthened institutional capacity and consolidated national unity. 

She added, “As Namibians, we owe a great deal of gratitude to President Pohamba’s wisdom, humility, and foresight, which continue to guide us on the path of peace and stability.”

President Nandi-Ndaitwah also commended Dr. Pohamba’s heroic exploits in the pursuit of the liberation struggle, saying the path he has walked on and his revolutionary footprints remain a great source of inspiration to all. 

“Today, as Cde President Pohamba celebrates the remarkable milestone of turning 90 years, I join the Namibian people to wish him good personal health and wisdom to inspire both young and old to emulate his exemplary leadership and follow in his heroic footsteps,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah.
