The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, met with traditional authorities about the removal of the local authority councillors and other developments at Katima Mililo.
This include the exchanging of land for vehicles after the councillors ignored the directives to discontinue the programme.
Litunga George Mamili the seventh, of the Mafwe Traditional Authority, is of the view that traditional leaders were supposed to be informed before the removal of the councillors.
Sankwasa, however, said the council were given ample time to explain themselves and rectify the situation, but that request was ignored.
Fumu Joseph Mayuni of the Mashi Traditional Authority noted that the region needs more development, saying he's worried about the pace of development in the region.
In response, Sankwasa explained that the land within a municipal area belongs to the government, but not within the jurisdiction of traditional authorities who are the custodians of communal land.
