Rossing Uranium has awarded full master's degree scholarships to three Namibians to study nuclear energy in China.
Earlier this year, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah called on the nation to develop skills in preparation for a local nuclear energy industry.
Rossing Uranium responded to the call by awarding full scholarships to three Namibians, who will study nuclear energy in China.
The bursars will also receive practical training at China National Nuclear Corporation plants.
"From classroom to nuclear facilities, these students will be exposed to technologies and practices of the future, ensuring Namibia has the right skills at the right time. They will not just have degrees but skills and confidence to contribute to Namibia's nuclear industry," said Rossing Uranium HR Manager, Germano Musili.
Also speaking at the event was Erongo Governor Natalia |Goagoses. "Vision 2030 calls for masses of knowledgeable, well-trained Namibians, and the Namibian government alone cannot create these masses. So, therefore, we are so thankful that your industry, your mine, is also responding to the call of Vision 2030."
The mining company further announced the selection of four top-performing academic learners to participate in the Gen Z Youth Exchange program in China.
The beneficiaries from Swakopmund and Oshakati are between the ages of 12 and 15 years.
The three masters' students will travel to China by the end of August, while the youth exchange students will leave in the third week of September.
