Rossing commits to maintaining Erongo Police's vehicle fleet

Rossing Uranium has solidified the extension of its agreement with the Namibian Police Force to another three years to repair old, rusted, and faulty police vehicles at Swakopmund at a cost of N$750,000.

A total of 11 police vehicles were refurbished and maintained by the uranium mine for the past two years, at a cost of N$250,000.

Due to the wet weather conditions in the coastal towns, cars are prone to rust, and the bodies of the vehicles are damaged easily if proper care and maintenance are not taken. 

Swakopmund municipality's Project Shine receives donations

The Swakopmund municipality's Project Shine has received N$190,000 from various sponsors to keep the town and surrounding areas clean.

Since its launch in 2007, Project Shine has played a significant role in promoting cleanliness, recycling, and improving the social welfare of the Swakopmund community.

The town mayor, Dina Namubes, says through this project, residents are encouraged to dispose of their waste in a responsible way and be mindful of the problem that litter presents.

Rossing Uranium gets an extension on mining lease

Rossing Uranium has been given a new lease on life and will continue operations until 2036.

Managing Director Johan Coetzee announced the extension of the mine's life at Swakopmund.

The formal life span of the Rossing Uranium Mine was set to end in 2025, and the previous majority shareholder, Rio Tinto, considered closing operations in 2020.

Following the sale of Rio Tinto's 67% shareholding to China National Uranium Corporation, Rossing Uranium has assured a positive cash flow and continued operations until 2025.

A total of 11 vehicles are being repaired as part of the company's social responsibility.

With the wet weather conditions in coastal towns, cars are prone to rust, and the bodies of the vehicles are damaged easily if proper care and maintenance are done. 

11 vehicles were identified for mechanical and body repairs.
