The annual five-day Spring Camp, hosted by the Basketball Artist School (BAS), officially kicked off Monday at the Katutura Multi-Purpose Youth Centre.

Organized to coincide with the midterm break, the camp offers students a chance to connect, interact, and engage in various fun and educational activities.

Running daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, the camp features a packed schedule, including basketball, soccer, team-building exercises, and board games. Participants also enjoy regular breaks and a complimentary lunch.

Pedro Pasile, the BAS Program Coordinator, emphasized that the Spring Camp is a fundraising effort for the nonprofit organization.

"The idea behind the whole Spring Camp is fundraising for the Basketball Artist School, so these are smaller activities that we do throughout the year to just fundraise for our program," Pasile said.

With a great turnout on day one, several participants shared their excitement about the camp.

"I actually feel extremely good," said participant Grace Haikela. "I've met new friends, I have learned new experiences and learned about teamwork. I would actually like for parents to encourage their kids to come here so we can have a higher population of future basketball players, future chess players, and everything in between."

Another participant, Ngeza Micolo, added, "I'm really excited, I feel nice here because this is where I grew up. This is where I learned most of the things, especially how to play basketball."

The Spring Camp runs until September 12, 2025. Parents are encouraged to register their children for the remaining days of this enriching program.
