Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo has announced the promotion of Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay as commander for the Kunene Region, effective next month.
The big day began with a vibrant street drill by police officers, showcasing discipline, unity, and the spirit of service that defines the force.
Incoming Commissioner Clay, who is currently the Head of Crime Investigations Coordinator, is ready for the new task.
"I assure you that I'll continue to work with dedication, professionalism and commitment to uphold the responsibilities entrusted to me. Finally, I pledge to continue serving the diverse inhabitants of the Kunene Region with commitment, loyalty, and diligence, upholding the values and principles of our institution."
Clay is a seasoned officer with decades of service and is widely respected because of his operational discipline and his focus on strengthening ties between the police and the community.
Throughout his career, he has prioritised crime prevention and community policing initiatives, earning trust across different ranks and communities.
Chief Inspector Florence Kuzatjike is set to assume Clay's former role.
Seven others were also promoted.
