Independent Patriots for Change MP Michael Mulunga has queried the Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Sanet Steenkamp, about the status of the National Youth Council, which he said had been without a substantive board for some time.

"We have it on good authority that the National Youth Council of Namibia does not have a substantive executive chairperson in place, nor a board. This then leaves the institution in the government's vacuum. I'd therefore like to ask the Honourable Minister if she can confirm or deny these allegations."

He further questioned what measures the ministry has put in place to ensure the institution has a government body in place in the near future.

The minister said all efforts are in place. They have consulted widely to get nominations, and efforts are in place to have it done by the end of next week.
