There was a celebration of culture, identity and unity at Tsumkwe Primary School last week, with learners and parents commemorating Namibia's Heritage Week under the theme 'Torchbearer of Our Heritage'.
Learners from diverse cultural backgrounds took centre stage to showcase their traditional dances, songs and costumes that reflect Namibia's rich heritage.
Teachers, like Waldi Kooper, highlighted the importance of preserving culture and heritage.
"During the years following our independence, we became torchbearers of the light that symbolises our freedom, a light we continue to carry today. This means we must not forget our origins and the sacrifices made by those who fought for our independence. We should preserve our culture and always remember that we have roots and a history from which we come."
She added that children should be taught from an early age how to preserve their cultural heritage.
From cultural dance to traditional food, the event emphasised unity in diversity, reminding all Namibians that the nation's strength lies in its unity.
