The Mayor of Walvis Bay, Trevino Forbes, said a well-managed trucking ecosystem can reduce congestion, minimise environmental impact and improve safety for residents and workers alike.

Forbes made this remark during the NKNO Fuels Namibia Stakeholder Engagement Agenda on the Walvis Bay Truck Park and Staging Project.

The truck parking and staging project is designed to strengthen the efficiency, reliability and resilience of freight movement from surrounding areas to the harbour and beyond.

Forbes stated the project will position Namibia as a regional logistics hub through the strengthening of port operations.

"It is clear that NKNO Fuels is driven by a clear and powerful vision to contribute to the more efficient, reliable and competitive logistics ecosystem within Namibia. It is clear that today's progress is the result of collaborative effort."

He encouraged the stakeholders to share insight and input that will strengthen design, execution and long-term operations.

Erongo Governor, Natalia |Goagoses said the region has, over the years, positioned itself as a hub of growth, trade, innovation and strategic infrastructural development.

"Over the past few years, the Erongo Region has embarked on several transformative projects that underscore our commitment to sustainable development. Projects such as upgrading and expansion of key road links and public infrastructure in this region with the current allocation by the government of over N$390 million for this financial year."
