The Ministry of International Relations and Trade (MIRT) launched a five-year strategic plan aimed at enhancing Namibia's trade, investment, and diplomatic influence on the global stage.
The 2025-2030 plan marks the Ministry's second strategic plan, coinciding with the final five years of the implementation of Vision 2030.
This plan seeks to align national efforts with key policy frameworks, including the Swapo Party Manifesto Implementation Plan and the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6).
It outlines Namibia's strategic vision and priorities for enhancing trade, attracting sustainable investments, and safeguarding the nation's interests abroad.
"It is a call to collective action. It is a staunch reminder that every Namibian, whether serving at headquarters, at our diplomatic missions, across all OMAs, in the private sector, in civil society or in all 14 regions, has a role to play in advancing Namibia's national interests. Similarly, we look forward to continuing to work together with all our development partners in the Global South and Global North as well as at the multilateral level," said Minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi.
The Executive Director of the Ministry, Ndiitah Nghipondoka-Robiati, explained that the blueprint is anchored on three key pillars.
"These strategic plans set out three key strategic pillars that will guide our work. The first one is international relations. The second one is economic cooperation. And the third one is stakeholder centricity, which our presence here truly demonstrates." These pillars, she said, "are underpinned by values of patriotism, commitment, professionalism, discipline, and integrity, which define who we are and how we will serve our stakeholders."
The plan reaffirms MIRT's commitment to promoting diplomacy that supports national growth and strengthens Namibia's global partnerships.
