The ballot papers for the upcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections arrived this afternoon.

Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) Commissioner Pius Iikwambi said out of four international bids submitted, Uni Print, a South African company, was selected at a cost of around N$3.8 million.

Iikwambi explained that Unit Print was the most responsive to the requirement and cost-efficient.

The commissioner said they have made good progress in executing activities for the upcoming elections. Upon the award of the printing contract, the ECN engaged political entities regarding the design of the ballot papers and received approval before printing.

1,815,100 ballot papers were received for the regional councils election, and 920,400 ballot papers for the local authorities election.

The distribution and allocation of ballot papers will start tomorrow and continue until the 17th.
