United Democratic Front (UDF) president Hendrick Gaobaeb has underlined the importance of the upcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections.

Goabaeb made the remarks as he welcomed two new members into the party.

The new members are Reginald Roman, former UDF Youth League Secretary General and the youngest to have ever served in that position, and Johannes Eiseb of the |Khomanin Traditional Authority, who both rejoined the party. Eiseb is rejoining after 41 years in the ruling party.

During the media conference, Gaobaeb urged voters to turn out in large numbers, saying that voting for the UDF would help ensure the delivery of basic services to all Namibians.

"The party is prepared for the regional and local authority elections in Namibia, as it considers this its duty. It is the closest government to the people and is responsible for the provision of basic services to the people. Therefore, every qualified Namibian must stand up and vote to ensure that the party fulfils its duty to provide equitable services."

He reiterated the party's commitment to restoring people's dignity through fair access to land, promising "one plot per person, free of charge."

Gaobaeb further pointed to the need to address unemployment and landlessness.

Meanwhile, Roman urged the youth to rise and participate in the elections.

Eiseb said the UDF flag will be seen, and the party's voice will be heard across the country.

The UDF will contest in 21 local authorities and 19 constituencies.
