The International Institute of Welding President Thomas Bollinghaus wants Namibia to get back to its higher-middle-income country classification.
Bollinghaus addressed a recent workshop organised by the Association for Welding and Allied Processes Namibia in Windhoek.
The workshop was also attended by Germany's Deputy Ambassador, Florian Seitz.
Seitz commended Namibia for being a frontrunner in the emerging field of green hydrogen technologies and applications.
"Because we don't want to invest in under-skilled or lower-skilled jobs too much. Because the population of Namibia is not very large. So we want to have the best here to increase the personal salaries and also with that to raise Namibia, which was rated down from a higher-middle-income country last year to a lower-middle-income country. And we want to achieve and give a contribution so that Namibia also gets back to being a higher-middle-income country," said Bollinghaus.
He further stated they would rather not invest in low-skilled jobs too much, because the Namibian population is not very large.
