Author Sarah Iyaloo Negumbo has launched her debut book, titled "So, You Are Left-Handed? The Mixed Wrap of Left-Handedness", exploring the quirks and struggles of left-handers.

Negumbo humorously spoke about challenges such as using a computer mouse and pointed out famous left-handers such as former First Lady Monica Geingos and former US President Barack Obama.

Left-handed people make up about 10% of the population and are often considered creative.

"This book was born out of curiosity, reflection, and the desire to give the voice of those of us who see the world from the other side, the left-hand side. In this book, I'll take you on a journey to unravel the mystery, exploring what makes left-handedness such a fascinating and also misunderstood characteristic. We then move on to embracing the South Pole perspective. This is where I call for us to celebrate the uniqueness of us left-handed, the creativity, and also the quiet power of thinking differently."

Twelve-year-old author Jobina Shovaleka, nominated for the 2025 Best Literature Book, gave a reading that delighted the audience.

Arts Director in the Education Ministry, M'Kariko Amagulu, praised Negumbo for telling local stories in a creative era, calling her book a fresh contribution to Namibian literature.

"If we do not tell our own stories in our own voices, we risk disappearing in the vast ocean of global narratives that reflect other cultures, other realities and other histories. We must therefore continue to encourage and inspire the Namibians to write, to tell stories that reflect who we are, where we come from and how we live, love and dream."
