The German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Groups handed over a mobile command post worth more than N$30 million to the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs.

The mobile command post is a quickly deployable unit to command troops in and out of the area of operation.

During the handover ceremony, the Commanding Officer of the German Advisory Group, Lutz Beirich, revealed that the donated equipment is a high-value asset that will expand the capabilities and operational options of the Namibian Defence Force.

"I can report to you today that we have finally realised the project. However, I would also like to emphasise that I am not 100% satisfied. The German side has fulfilled its obligation, and I am proud to officially hand over the mobile command post equipment to you today."

As the German Advisory Group concludes its mission in Namibia in December of this year, the Commanding Officer shared the projects that have been accomplished.

"During the 2021 to 2024 programme period, we completed three projects: the NDF VTC, the Medical School and support for the School of Military Science. However, we also launched a new project in 2021, the mobile command post. Unfortunately, this project was ill-fated, as there were many delays due to the COVID-19 crisis."

The Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Frans Kapofi, recognised the consistent support from the German Advisory Group in providing modern defence tools and training to the NDF.

"The equipment and technical support we receive today will significantly enhance the operational capacity of our defence force, particularly in areas such as peacekeeping, counterterrorism, border security and, of course, disaster response. This contribution goes beyond material assistance; this is a testament to the continued professionalism of our men and women in the NDF."
