The Police Regional Commander in the Omusati Region, Commissioner Ismael Basson, has confirmed that two officers will be deployed to every polling station in the Omusati Region to ensure the safety of voters during the Regional Councils and Local Authority Elections.
Commissioner Basson said the Namibian Police is an important stakeholder in the upcoming elections and is ready to carry out its mandate of ensuring the safety of all citizens participating in the upcoming elections and enforcing the law when necessary.
The Regional Commander further urged citizens to maintain peace and order during the elections despite their political differences and perspectives.
He also stated that at least one official from every political party should be present at the polling stations to report any misconduct.
He further urged the public to participate in the elections and not make any excuses.
