Residents of Oshaampula Village in the Oshikoto Region called for meaningful change after the elections to improve their living conditions.

They called for the upgrading of the Okankolo-Onkumpula road, saying the current state of the road severely affects their daily lives.

Residents said the road is in poor condition and can only be navigated by four-wheel-drive vehicles. 

They added that overloading of public transport is the norm, and if you miss available transport, you are unlikely to find another vehicle passing for a long while. 

The community also appeals for access to clean and safe drinking water, as they currently rely on wells, with a few available taps that hold very low water pressure.

Water from earth dams, they say, is muddy and unfit for human consumption.

Villagers further raised the need for clinics at Egolo and Omunyagwe villages, saying they currently travel approximately 16 kilometres to the Okankolo Clinic for medical services.

Additionally, some women who sell their produce near the Okankolo Clinic requested the establishment of an improved open market, where they can conduct their businesses in a safer and more conducive environment.

Youth unemployment, they added, is another challenge that needs to be addressed in Okankolo Constituency.
