Following the recent local authorities elections, Wensel Kana from the All People's Party (APP) was elected as the chairperson of the Divundu Local Authority, deputised by Independent Patriots for Change's (IPC) Angeline Peturi.

Swapo Party's Christoph Sikosi and Priscah Kana, as well as Martin Maghano from the APP, are ordinary councillors.

"This responsibility is not mine alone, but it belongs to all of us. Therefore, I ask for your consistent support in this very important assignment. Our success will depend on our teamwork, dialogue and mutual respect so that we build a brighter future for our inhabitants. Let's continue to work towards a town that is just, equal and prosperous to all inhabitants," says Kana.

He praised the outgoing team for their meaningful contributions towards access to clean drinking water and expansion of electricity and telecommunication connections.

Kana called on his fellow leaders to continue on the progress made by their predecessors.

"During the campaign I have walked amongst the residents of this town and listened to their concerns, and I realized that there is still much more to be done to uplift the residents of Divundu. As chairperson my focus will be guided by five key priorities. Key number one, improving basic services by ensuring reliable water supply, better sanitation, and upgrading our roads, especially areas where access remains a challenge. Key number two, accelerating housing and land development. Our residents can build dignified homes so that our village can grow in a well-planned, sustainable way. Key number three, promoting economic opportunities. Key number four, enhancing community welfare by strengthening support for vulnerable families, improving waste management, and investing in a cleaner and healthier environment. Last but not least, key number five, ensuring accountable and transparent leadership."

He also apealed to the community to work in harmony with the new leadership, for a common goal of development.
