The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Indileni Daniel, has urged the public to refrain from littering and to take shared responsibility for keeping Namibia clean during the festive season and beyond.
As the year draws to a close, the Minister reminded Namibians that the festive season brings increased travel, tourism activities, and social gatherings, which often result in higher levels of littering and waste pollution.
She called on all travellers heading to their homes, villages, farms, national parks, or simply enjoying Namibia’s scenic roads to dispose of waste responsibly. The Minister stressed the importance of using bins correctly, ensuring that waste is not thrown from vehicle windows, and cleaning up after picnics.
Minister Daniel encouraged the public to embrace the slogan “My waste, my responsibility,” emphasizing that protecting the environment is a shared mandate to safeguard it for both present and future generations.
“A clean Namibia requires the collective effort of all of us,” she said.
