The National Youth Council (NYC) held a meeting with youth at Khorixas to discuss the challenges they faced, such as youth participation, leadership, and skill development.

Khorixas Constituency Councillor Eddie |Nanub said he plans to introduce quarterly town hall meetings to better understand the community's abilities and needs and to create development opportunities.

|Nanub stressed the importance of active youth involvement in leadership structures and decision-making processes, urging young people to take responsibility and contribute meaningfully to community development.

"I called on you to lead and run positions in this forum, not for a title but to serve. I call upon you to participate, attend meetings, criticise constructively, propose, and hold me accountable."

The Khorixas Constituency Youth Forum Chairperson, Norman !Nanuseb also provided feedback on their operations while seeking solutions to the youth's challenges.

"We held successful cleanup campaigns, and also we trained young people to become successful business owners, successful farmers, and successful administrators in those few programmes that we have done through our office as the Khorixas Constituency Youth Forum."

The town's youth say unemployment remains a challenge, and they want more courses introduced at the Khorixas Vocational Training Centre.

Youth engagement, such as that organised by the National Youth Council, allows young people to express their views on issues that affect them, ensuring their concerns are heard in decision-making spaces.
