The Namibia Film Commission (NFC) has received more than 600 eligible submissions from across Africa for the film week scheduled to take place from the 12th to the 16th of March.

From the 600 eligible submissions across all categories, 119 were selected for screening during film week, with 64 Namibian films that reflect the growth of the industry.

Hertha Katjivena is a senior media officer at NFC who explained, "We received films from Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco.  The programme is looking at various things. There will be panel discussions and workshops on various themes and topics, from film policy review to production, budgeting and taxation to film marketing and public relations. So, we're really, really excited for this event, and we're excited to be hosting filmmakers, not only the Namibian filmmakers but also filmmakers from across Africa, and for them to join us during this event. We will be releasing the full programme and sharing that with industry and the Namibian public at large."

The event brings together filmmakers, local industry professionals and audiences to showcase films, including shorts, features and documentary films.

Film week aims to foster industry development with workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions and networking opportunities while celebrating creativity.
