Police in the Zambezi Region reported multiple serious incidents, including reckless driving injuring school learners, a murder, and a body found under unclear circumstances.
A reckless driving case was registered at Brian Menias Libuto Police Station in Kongola after an incident on Tuesday at Kapani village along the B8 road.
A Namibia Private Ambulance driver heading from Kongola to Katima Mulilo stopped for three learners walking to Masida Combined School. When the vehicle moved, two thought it was turning back and jumped out, fearing for their safety. The 25-year-old male and 17-year-old female sustained facial and body injuries and were treated at Katima Mulilo Hospital by the same ambulance. The 39-year-old driver had a warning statement issued while investigations continue.
In a separate incident on Wednesday evening at Muchimbami village in Singalamwe, police opened a murder and assault case. A 16-year-old woman, Mubata Yalezo, was allegedly stabbed to death by Maluta Joba during a confrontation over illegal gambling. Joba also assaulted a 22-year-old woman by kicking her repeatedly. The suspect fled the scene, and police are searching for him.
Katima Mulilo Police also received a report on Wednesday of a 70-year-old Angolan man, Luthihano Benjamin, who was found dead at a house in the Mushabati village. The cause of death is suspected to be old age.
