The induction workshop for Swapo Party members of the 8th Parliament concluded today in the capital.

The workshop was aimed at equipping Swapo members of parliament with tools which, the party leader says, will enable them to effectively carry out their duties.

Delivering her closing remarks for the workshop, Swapo Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa urged party members to facilitate themselves in a manner that will enable the party to make meaningful contributions to a successful implementation of government programmes.

"Access to quality health care, quality education for all, housing sanitation for our people, rural development, agriculture for food security, roads and other infrastructure development, and equitable distribution of resources are some of the priorities that we must focus on."

Shaningwa pointed out that it is imperative that all party members stand firmly in support of the eighth administration to ensure coordinated efforts not only across the National Assembly and the National Council, but also in the regions and local authority councils.

"As deployees of the Swapo Party, you must channel the knowledge gained here into diligent action. Fulfil commitments outlined in our manifesto through effective lawmaking, rigorous oversight, strategic implementation and policies that promote economic diversification, poverty alleviation, youth empowerment, rural development and inclusive growth."

She further commended the party members for their unwavering commitment and active engagement, despite the demanding schedule of parliamentary duties.
