The Minister of Justice and Labour Relations, Wise Immanuel, is attending the Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting underway in Nadi, Fiji.
Ministers from 56 jurisdictions have called for strengthened rule of law frameworks to address mounting global challenges.
The theme of the three-day meeting is "Anchoring Justice in a Changing Tide: Strengthening the Rule of Law for a Resilient Future." It brings together Law Ministers and Attorneys-General from across the Commonwealth, representing 2.7 billion people.
Talks focus on how strong legal safeguards protect daily life. This includes the right to participate in democracy, earn a fair living, and live in a safe community.
Ministers are expected to agree on practical steps to strengthen the rule of law. These include improving access to justice and reinforcing legal institutions that support stable societies, fair economies and environmental protection.
Discussions also examine climate change, digital transformation, and regional cooperation. A key priority is using technology to improve legal services and expand access to justice.
The main goal of the CLMM is to build consensus among member states and set clear directions on shared legal and justice issues.
The meeting's outcomes are expected to help shape the agenda for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), to be held in Antigua and Barbuda later this year.
The meeting concludes on Thursday.
