China and Namibia marked the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse, with a cultural celebration highlighting growing people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The event was hosted by China Railway Seventh Group (CRSG) Namibia, a major contractor involved in civil works such as roads, bridges and infrastructure rehabilitation. Its key projects include the 5.6 km Auas Road upgrade and the Namport Industrial Zone link road. The occasion also highlighted 2026 as the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, aimed at strengthening cultural and social cooperation.
Government representatives, company officials and members of the public attended the gathering, which combined diplomacy with a cultural showcase.
The programme featured traditional Chinese dragon dances, mask painting exhibitions, martial arts demonstrations and displays on Chinese healing medicine. Namibian cultural groups also performed traditional music and dance.
CRSG, which has operated in Namibia for more than a decade and officially registered in the country in 2015, was commended for contributing to both infrastructure development and cultural engagement.
