President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has tasked Namibia's new High Commissioner to India, Alex Tukuhupwele, to ensure the effective implementation of bilateral agreements.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah commissioned Tukuhupwele as High Commissioner, urging him to actively identify new opportunities that deliver tangible benefits for all Namibians.
She reminded him that he assumes office at a decisive moment in Namibia's journey, stressing that economic diplomacy remains a cornerstone of Namibia's foreign policy.
The two countries are set to convene the 5th Foreign Office Consultations soon, in preparation for the Joint Ministerial Commission of Cooperation meeting.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah said these engagements reaffirm the strong bilateral ties, with new avenues of cooperation opened following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to Namibia in 2025.
"India's remarkable progress in information technology, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, education, innovation and space science presents valuable opportunities for collaboration aligned with Namibia's national development agenda. As you execute your mandate, remain firmly anchored in the guiding principles of Namibia's foreign policy: the protection of our sovereignty, the advancement of our national interests, and the preservation of our unity as a people."
The President said Namibia must intensify efforts to accelerate development outcomes under the 6th National Development Plan, noting that it is the final implementation plan for Vision 2030.
"Particular emphasis remains on agriculture and food security, youth empowerment, quality education and skills development, sports and the creative industries, health and social welfare, as well as land, housing and sanitation. You are therefore called upon to promote trade expansion, attract sustainable investment, open new markets for Namibian products, and facilitate partnerships that contribute meaningfully to national development."
The new High Commissioner, Tukuhupwele, pledged to continue building on the work of his predecessors in advancing Namibia's interests.
Tukuhupwele takes over from Gabriel Sinimbo, who was cross-posted to Tanzania last year.
