The Namibia Exile Kids Association is now affiliated with the SWAPO Party.

Its president, Kadiva Hamutumwa, announced this during the association's Central Committee Meeting.

The association was established to oversee the welfare of children born in exile.

Three years ago, NEKA applied for direct affiliation with the Swapo Party, which has now been granted.

All members are encouraged to embark on the journey with a shared commitment to unite, collaborate, and work towards a brighter future for all.

“Unity must remain the backbone of our current economic revolution. Our elders paid the price for political independence, and they led that revolution with dedication and strength. It is now our responsibility to ensure that the policies and programmes established by our forefathers and our current leaders are carried forward in our various capacities,” Hamutumwa explained.

She further urged members to continue sharing and honoring the memories of freedom fighters and remain united in purpose and resolve.

"Let us not be shy or run away from speaking about the veterans of the liberation struggle. These are the heroes who remain in Angola and other countries, some lying there in their blood—and that is the price of this freedom. They are the veterans whose homes were burned in Namibia, who were killed, tortured, and brutalised. It is they who paid the ultimate price for us to be here today. Therefore, as this generation, our responsibility is to continue that conversation without fear or favor. And we must also continue the conversation for and about the offspring of the liberation struggle," Hamutumwa added.
