Caprivi Senior Secondary School in the Zambezi Region received a donation of N$430,000 from the Chinese embassy for the purchase of tables and chairs.

Through the school’s advocate and alumnus, Deputy Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Dr. Charles Mubita, the school has received donations totalling N$854,200 from the Chinese Embassy over the last two years.

Last year, the embassy donated a computer laboratory to the tune of more than N$420,000.

In appreciation, Dr. Mubita requested that the computer laboratory be named after Chairman Mao Zedong. He highlighted several challenges the school still faces and said he will make it his priority to address them.

Mubita further announced that he will assist the school in finding a twin school in China before May this year to facilitate exchange programmes and enhance potential scholarships.

The Director of the Political Desk and media officer at the Chinese embassy, Luo Zheng, said his country is pleased to contribute to educational advancements. He added that this year has been designated as the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, truly reflecting China’s strong commitment to deepening mutual friendship.
