Residents of the ||Kharas Region will be celebrating Independence Day at Karasburg. ||Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze explained that Karasburg was picked with an aim to boost the economy there.

"I invite all residents in ||Kharas to attend the event. Secondly, the underpinning values that we are subscribing to are the values of unity, and we said it: diversity and unity. For us to beautify this event, we said we are going to give space and time for our citizens and residents of the region to come in big numbers, but then we also have the freedom to beautify each person putting on his personal regalia in terms of ethnicity and the tribe that you are coming from traditionally, but we are not merely just assigning to that, and other people can put on what they want, but we are encouraging people to keep political regalia away from this event since this is a national event, and we want that national feel as people who are diverse in terms of thinking but united in pursuit and purpose."

Transport would be provided to all constituencies to allow residents to join in on the celebrations.

Gertze gave a sneak peek into expectations of the celebration.

"Local content is key for us; we said that all the local people that will be performing must come from the region. Importing people is quite costly, as if we are looking past our own people. We have got talent in the south, and we are going to display it openly this time around, and we invite all dancers, music makers, and artists."

The Vice President, Lucia Witbooi, is expected to attend the celebration at Karasburg.
