Oshikoto Police have arrested a pensioner from Oshiyagaya Village in Onyaanya Constituency for allegedly starving and physically abusing a 16-year-old Angolan domestic worker. The 62-year-old woman is expected to appear in Ondangwa Magistrate's Court on Monday.

The girl, who is currently hospitalised, told NBC News about how she has allegedly endured abuse at the hands of her employer since mid-last year.

Her alleged abuse came to light after a video about her condition went viral on social media, prompting police to take action.

She claims that she was often starved, worked without a break, and slept on the floor in a shack with no door for a salary of N$500, which she never received.

The Oshikoto police are yet to release further details as investigations unfold.
