The Affirmative Repositioning's (AR) chief activist, Job Amupanda, has reiterated his commitment to supporting education.
He has pledged a donation to his former school, Omaalala Primary School, in Oshana Region.
Amupanda, who serves as the school's patron, has committed to bringing much-needed infrastructure development to the school to benefit the learners.
He says the donation will go towards constructing a school hall and renovating a playground.
The AR leader's efforts in bringing tangible change in Namibia's education fraternity are not new, as he has in the past built two classrooms and an administrative block at Otanana Combined School in Oshikoto Region.
Additionally, through his Revolutionary Union, he also constructed two classrooms at Limbandungila Combined School in Ohangwena Region.
Amupanda emphasised the significance of community involvement in education and urged those in a position to assist to do so for the learners especially.
"They say education is a shared responsibility, and we are trying to demonstrate that it's a shared responsibility. As you know, the pre-primary schools are now integrated into the schools, so there are a lot of children - about 500 learners here. We need to help our communities; we need to help the government; we need to help schools where we are coming from."
The school's principal is Emilia Simeon.
"The school is facing so many challenges at the school, such as old infrastructure that we have at the school and insufficient ablution facilities that we have at the school for the learners. The school board has come up with initiatives; one of them is the patron, which we came up with last year, and the main aim is for us to get assistance and for us to come up with initiatives of raising funds."
Amupanda says he plans to put up modern ablution facilities and computer labs at the school, amongst others.
