A police officer from Keetmanshoop, Bernard Jantze, is combining crime prevention and community safety with comedic storytelling.

Since 2022, Constable Jantze, a member of the crime prevention division, and his team have employed creative storytelling during their off-duty hours to effectively tackle the everyday challenges that young people in their community encounter.

"When I am on duty, I approach my responsibilities within the force with the seriousness they deserve. However, I also view my role as a police officer as an opportunity to observe the societal issues affecting our community. During patrols, I notice various challenges faced by residents, and I draw upon these experiences to inspire the content that my crew and I develop through filming. This allows us to address these issues creatively," he explained.

Jantze explained that the Tsekorobo Nama||Gause film project, which translates to "how you address issues in Nama households", originated from a genuine passion.

He added that he and his friends discovered their talent by mimicking their seniors.

"Through Tsekorobo Nama||gause, our aim is to preserve the language and maintain our heritage for future generations. As a cast, we aspire to be on a stage where we receive recognition and awards, and where we can reach a large and diverse audience."

Jantze added that the group had established a growing online presence, with more than 10,000 YouTube subscribers and 7,610 TikTok followers.

He also has a content page where he discusses everyday struggles, and it has more than 50 followers on the TikTok platform and more than 800 likes.
