Health authorities are satisfied with the TB mass screening campaign, which concluded in Kanovlei Village, Tsumkwe West.

The campaign aimed at detecting TB early and eventually helping to reduce the transmission rate.

Health officials explained that early detection remains key in controlling the spread of the disease.

Speaking to NBC News, the campaign's deputy coordinator, Kaumuna Musaso, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes, highlighting that the campaign has largely met its objectives.

"So far, we have screened 1,790 clients, and among those, we conducted a tuberculin skin test on 1,643 patients. And yes, we have identified a case of drug resistance. So far during the campaign, we have identified 15 TB cases, but this number may change as we are still awaiting other pending results."

He said the community responded positively to the screening services.

The challenges encountered included rainfall and a lack of transport in certain areas.

The nearest clinic from Rooidag gate to Omatako is about 60 km away, and the community took advantage of the health services that were brought closer to them.

The campaign is set to proceed to the Kunene, Oshikoto, Omaheke, and Hardap regions, which have been identified as target areas for this year.
