Three members of Namibia’s delegation to the Pan African Parliament (PAP) were sworn in today during the opening of the Extraordinary Session of the seventh PAP in Midrand, South Africa.
The new appointees, Alpheus !Naruseb from the National Assembly, and Olivia Hanghuwo and Tjimutambo Kuuoko from the National Council—will be assigned to the PAP’s Permanent Committees through the Southern Africa Caucus.
Their appointment follows vacancies created by recent elections and the end of terms of former members Gerhard Shiimi and Anseline Beukes. Notably, !Naruseb replaces Uahekua Herunga.
Namibia’s delegation now comprises five members, including IPC MP Rodney Cloete and the newly sworn-in trio, led by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
The Pan African Parliament serves as a continental platform where African legislators discuss pressing issues such as governance, peace and security, human rights, and development.
