Namibia will host the SADC Organisation Public Accounts Committee Peer Review Programme and training workshop at Swakopmund from 18 to 23 May 2026.

About 100 delegates are expected to attend, including representatives from South Africa, Malawi, the Seychelles, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Eswatini.

The chairperson of the public accounts committees, Hendrik Gaobaeb, says, "This important regional gathering will bring together public accounts committees, parliamentary officials, oversight institutions, civil society representatives, and accountability partners from across the SADC region to strengthen cooperation in the promotion of transparency, accountability, and sound public financial management."

Speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongelwa-Amathila is expected to officiate at the gathering.

Gaobaeb says the event will also boost Swakopmund's reputation as a regional conference destination while benefiting the local tourism and hospitality sectors.
