Former presenters, producers and journalists returned to the studio to reflect on their contributions to the national broadcaster and the role it played in shaping their careers.

They featured on Good Morning Namibia's special 35th anniversary edition.

The Good Morning Namibia show was hosted by former presenters Catherine Shipushu and Anna Nicodemus.

Memories and plenty of nostalgia on Good Morning Namibia on Friday as familiar faces from different eras of NBC stepped back behind the microphone and into the presenter's chair.

The special segment featured former presenters, news anchors and producers who shared memorable moments, lifelong friendships and experiences from their time at the broadcaster.

Former Chief News and Programming Officer Dr. Audrin Mathe reflected on hosting Talk of the Nation, a programme that encouraged public debate on national issues.

"This is why I am saying that the journalism today is not the journalism of yesterday. We did research on institutional memories, for example, drafting the constitution. I would know that, and that's how we would challenge our guest."

Former news anchor Jonas Mbambo, now press secretary in the presidency, spoke about the role of credible journalism in informing the nation.

"I got a call and was asked if I wanted to audition, and I didn't even think I would make the cut, but I did and got into the programme."

Kazembire Zemburuka, former host of One on One, is remembered for his engaging interviews.

He now serves as director of strategic communications and international relations at the Bank of Namibia.

"Reflecting on the 35 years of the NBC, one of the things that we do as Namibians is we tend to celebrate institutions that have come of age, but it is institutions that have helped cement the ideals of national reconciliation."

Anna Nikodimus remembers how she walked in.

"That was 30 years ago when I entered the NBC, and I don't even know how to describe it, but it was undescribable; it was the beginning of my journey."

Tirelo Ya Sechaba Radio Manager Luna Ramphaga also reflected on her time producing programmes such as Public Service Corner, Inside Politics and News Journal, saying NBC laid the foundation for her broadcasting career.

"I think as NBC staff, as long as we are together and we have to produce, there's an expectation we have to deliver."

The reflections formed part of NBC's 35th anniversary celebrations, honouring those who helped build the broadcaster's legacy over the past three and a half decades.
