The chairperson for the Oshana Education Advisory Committee, Ndali Nenkavu, has launched the "Excellence beyond obstacles" campaign for the Onamutai Circuit to help improve the circuit's academic performance.
The campaign is a call to action for all heads of schools, departments and teachers within the circuit to commit to excelling, despite the multitude of challenges they encounter.
Oshana regional governor Hofni Iipinge established the advisory committee in response to the region's disappointing 2025 academic performance.
The committee is closely tasked with the Directorate of Education to assess challenges and advise the Governor's office on strategic performance across all circuits.
The campaign was launched during the Onamutai Circuit management team meeting held at the Ongwediva Teacher's Resource Centre.
Nenkavu explained that "this means, of course, we have been dwelling on obstacles. We took note of those obstacles, but they must not limit our achievements. This means, despite obstacles and challenges, we should excel. We should all agree to excel beyond obstacles; we should admit that together we rise, and together we excel."
Meanwhile, Nenkavu dispelled some misconceptions about the advisory committee's mandate.
"I think there is a wrong perception among us that this committee is for pledging and donations; it is not. This is because after our inauguration, we received more than ten letters, but all of them were just requesting donations. We, as a committee, were expecting schools to write us requests for motivational speakers. We thought you guys would request us to take some messages to the governor that our roads are not good and we are passing through floods, and our infrastructure is not good, but instead you chose what suits you: to just ask us for donations."
Inspector of Education for Onamutai Circuit, Josefat Haimbala, expressed confidence in all the circuit's school managers, instructional leaders and teachers, urging them to continue striving for more.
"We trust you to continuously review, strengthen and improve effective strategies and interventions that will improve learners' outcomes and contribute positively to the overall performance of our circuit and Oshana region at large."
