IPC launches ground mobilisation commandos in Rundu

Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) launched its Ground Mobilisation Commandos in Rundu this weekend.

The Ground Mobilisation Commandos targeted about 13 locations in and around Rundu to mobilise and recruit new members.

"To ensure victory over the troops in Oshana, it is crucial that we go out and recruit. Just yesterday, we welcomed 776 new members to our party. This continuous growth is a testament to the IPC's commitment to serving our people and our readiness to govern this country," said IPC President, Panduleni Itula.

Swapo Party Member urges campaign for majority in November elections

Swapo Party Politburo and Central Committee member, Lucia Witbooi, has urged party members to campaign for an outright majority in the November national elections. 

She made the call at the opening of the ||Kharas Swapo Party regional executive meeting in Keetmanshoop.

Witbooi further encouraged all eligible voters to re-register to participate in the upcoming elections.

The Swapo Party Regional Coordinator for the ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, has called on party members to accept criticism positively when canvassing votes for the 2024 national election slated for November this year.

He made the call when he officially opened an election campaign strategy workshop at Keetmanshoop. 

The purpose of the election campaign strategy workshop is to develop realistic strategies and approaches to be applied in the party's 2024 election campaign.

Mumbala further urged party members to defend the party and its leadership in public.

Campaign against drug use in Ohangwena

In the ongoing battle against drug abuse, the Ohangwena Region is taking a firm stance, with the police having confiscated drugs worth N$1.7 million this year. 

This was revealed during an anti-drug awareness campaign organised by the non-profit organisation Fighting Against Drug Use in Villages in Ongenga.

The eighth edition of the anti-drug campaign, which was well attended, highlights the community's eagerness to fight drug abuse.

NSI launches Metrology Awareness Campaign

The Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) has launched a metrology awareness campaign in Windhoek.

The Metrology Act provides for standardisation and conformity services through a well-defined national measurement system to the benefit of Namibian citizens.

The Metrology Act No. 5 of 2022 will allow the NSI to carry out its designated function of being the National Metrology Institute and the competent legal metrology authority effectively.

Otavi Town Council launches mass clean-up campaign

The town council will be joined by volunteers during the daily clean-up campaign.

The Directorate of Forestry in the Omaheke Region, in conjunction with the Epukiro Community Forest Committee, is conducting a joint operation and awareness campaign on forest preservation.

The campaign aims to educate the community on the importance of forest conservation and how one can acquire a permit for harvesting.

A Senior Forester Officer in the Directorate of Forestry in the Omaheke Region, Vetuundja Kazapua, says it also came out during the campaign that some people have started illegal harvesting of trees in protected areas.

"Say No to Smuggling Contraband" campaign launched in Windhoek

The Head of the Windhoek Correctional Facility, Oscar Kasuka, has warned against smuggling contraband within the facility, saying it poses threats such as stalking, bullying, and the risk of escape.

Kasuka said this during the launch of the Anti-Contraband Campaign in Windhoek under the theme "Say No to Smuggling Contraband".
 
The campaign, which started last month, aims to raise public awareness regarding the dangers associated with smuggling contraband into correctional facilities.
