ASEZ WAO hold clean up campaign in Havana Informal settlement

The World Mission Society of God Young Adult Workers Volunteer group held its environmental clean-up campaign in the Havana Informal settlement in Windhoek.

More than 40 young adults gathered to participate in the ASEZ WAO volunteer activity. 

The group picked up trash amounting to 50kg. 

The leader of the ASEZ WAO group, Hendrick Munepapa emphasized the importance of young adults taking part in such initiatives. 

Break Free Anti-violence campaign host response training for front-line service providers

The Break Free Anti-violence campaign hosted response training for front-line service providers and student representatives.

The campaign aims to provide a platform for Namibians to actively and meaningfully contribute to reducing violence in the society

The training will also focus on increasing knowledge and understanding of Gender-Based Violence and femicide as well as impart skills on response to GBV cases and preventing measures.

Ben Schernick, a gender specialist gave an overview of the training. 

Ministry of Health and US launch campaign to reduce stigma against vulnerable populations

Key populations who are at high risk of contracting HIV, such as men who have sex with men, sex workers, and transgender individuals, continue to face stigma and discrimination, making it hard for them to access health services.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services, in conjunction with the US government, therefore launched a campaign aimed at reducing the stigma towards the targeted groups.

The campaign, dubbed "Undetectable = Untransmitable," is funded by the Key Population or KP-STAR project.

UNAM social work students organise drug awareness campaign

In an effort to combat the abuse of alcohol and drugs, the University of Namibia's social work students organised an awareness campaign in Katutura.

Concerns about an increasing number of drug lords and rampant abuse of illegal substances have been reported in the area, and the students, as part of their assessment, organised an awareness campaign with spiritual leaders and former alcohol and drug users to motivate and encourage young people.
