Today was a special day for Elizabeth Christiaan of Farm Istawises in the ||Kharas Region as she celebrated her 101st birthday.

The Governor of ||Kharas, Dawid Gertze, and ||Kharas Regional Council Chairperson, Gerrit Witbooi, joined family and friends to celebrate Christiaan's milestone of 101 years.

"We just felt we could not let this special day pass without honouring our Ouma. Today's celebration is a small token of appreciation for Ouma and an opportunity to wish Ouma a happy birthday. But we can assure Ouma that we will return to say to Ouma in a more fitting manner that God has preserved your life today."

As the leadership of ||Kharas Region, we joined the family in celebrating this remarkable milestone. We extend our birthday wishes to Ouma and wish that she be blessed with many more years to come."

Ouma Christiaan attributed longevity to God's grace and had a message for the younger generation.

"They must listen to and respect their parents. I did not have an opportunity to attend school, yet God provided for me throughout life. They should follow the teachings of God's word."

The regional leadership also presented Ouma with food items as a gift.
